The 3rd annual music pilgrimage to the Birthplace of America’s Music has begun and Blind Mississippi Morris is back in Tunica for another great evening of live blues music. Named as one of the 10 best harmonica players in the world by Bluzharp magazine, Morris will perform from one of the Delta’s most unique venues – the Gateway to the Blues Visitor Center Stage alongside Blues Highway 61 on Wednesday, October 8th at 5:30 pm.
The thermometers rise has not cooled off the progress from here alongside Blues Highway 61 at the Gateway to the Blues Visitor Center and soon to be Museum. In fact, August has seen this project get hotter than a Mississippi Delta Juke Joint on a Saturday night!

Each Spring we pull out the lawn chairs and stock the coolers for the Alive After Five concert series in downtown Tunica. The concerts are the last Friday of the month in May and June and are held in Rivergate park. Scheduled to perform this year is Nancy Apple and the WDB and Delta Heart. Balloons return to the sky at the 2nd Annual Tunica Balloon Bash on August 9-11, 2013. Tunica will welcome 50 hot air balloons at five casino resort properties. Hot air balloonists from across the country will compete in early morning races to win over $12,000 in cash and prizes.

One balloon at each property will be tethered or attached to the ground for these rides at no cost. Make sure to get there early because the tethered rides only last for 2 hours and we expect a long line.

Tunica Roadhouse is a “let your hair down” kind of place where you can experience an attitude you can’t find at any casino outside of Tunica. Roadhouse has games and entertainment that make it feel like Tunica’s biker bar, but you don’t have to own a Harley to feel at home.

If you need a few laughs to brighten up your day, check out Sinbad’s recent visit to Tunica on Tunica TV. The comedian was at The Funny Bone Comedy Club at Harrah’s Tunica in May, and we were left in tears from laughing so hard.
The Funny Bone at Harrah’s is Tunica’s only comedy club. It’s not uncommon for headliners like Sinbad to visit The Funny Bone. Jim Carrey and Steve Harvey are past performers, and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Tim Meadows will perform at the club September 14-16. There are performances at The Funny Bone most Tuesday through Sunday nights, so check The Funny Bone website for a complete schedule of upcoming performances.

The Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau will host an after hours open house this Wednesday, June 27 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Homemade Jamz – The Youngest Blues Band in the Land will be the first ever act to perform live on the Highway 61 – Gateway to the Blues Stage. The event is geared to expose the members of the Tunica hospitality industry and local population on the opening of the 1st phase of the Gateway to the Blues Visitor Center, Museum and Office Complex located along US Highway 61.

The Tunica Arena is hosting the Cowboy Mounted Shooting National Championships this week. This marks the 10th year that this event has been held in Tunica. Over 500 horses and their riders come to town to take part in the annual championship. Tunica TV stopped by the Arena to check out the action so we could share it with you.

Where does the time go? Another year is almost in the books with the holiday season arriving upon us as fast as a Santa’s sleigh rooftop landing on Christmas morn. Speaking of rooftop landings, we in Tunica had a major rooftop landing this week with the arrival of the Gateway to the Blues Visitor Center marquee sign.
It’s the end of the year and we’re cleaning out the Comp Closet! We have buffets and fine dining comps that expire 12/30/11 and we definitely don’t want them to go to waste.

Fall is here! Some of my favorite things about this season are the changing leaves, cool nights wrapped in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa, corn mazes and the State Fair.
As a kid, I remember my family going to the state fair specifically for the rodeo and then walking through the animal barns to see the horses that had just performed for us. For all you country boys and girls, it might not seem like much to be close to such a magnificent animal, but for this city girl it filled me with awe and amazement. And now as an adult, I get that same feeling when I visit the Tunica Arena & Expo Center.

Many Tunica fans don’t realize the close connection Elvis had with Las Vegas, but Vegas was the place Elvis got his stage stardom. We know at Graceland, Tunica is our Vegas! We also know Tunica has “a lot more action” to keep you entertained during your trip, so whether you are visiting Memphis with a day trip to Tunica, or staying in Tunica and coming to see us at Graceland, here are three new things we are looking forward to you seeing in 2011!
It’s only a few days into the new year, and I find myself wanting to look forward to a getaway. It really is the best way to cure the winter blues. Sometimes that “getaway” is just down the road because the entertainment is coming to me in the new year in Tunica!
Mississippi Natives 3 Doors Down recently held their seventh annual concert to benefit The Better Life Foundation at Horseshoe Tunica’s Bluesville raising more than $280,000. The event was kicked off with a Charity Ride from Jackson, Mississippi, to Tunica Roadhouse Casino and concluded on Saturday evening with a raffle of the Citizen Soldier III motorcycle valued at over $50,000, a silent auction, and concert.
When planning for New Year’s Eve, the ideal place has 24 hour entertainment, a champagne toast at midnight, drink specials, ways to win prizes or money, great music, and a place to hang your hat, so you don’t have to get on the roads after midnight. In Tunica, we have it all!

Elvis is King! That has been the saying for many years and is evident every year on August 15. That is the date for the annual candlelight vigil at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. This year marked the 32nd annual vigil. I have always heard about it, and seeing that Graceland is just down the road from Tunica I decided to see for myself.
2010 marks the 75th anniversary of Elvis’ birthday and Travel Tunica thought what better time to experience Graceland. With Tunica MS being just 30 minutes away, we headed up Hwy. 61 to first have lunch at one of Elvis’ favorites, Arcade Restaurant.
Founded in 1919, the Arcade is Memphis’ oldest café, and Elvis frequented so often that a booth is dedicated to him. Not only is the food great . . . The Downtowner pizza is a must try, but the atmosphere and design is what moviemakers hope to find in a location. Click here for the complete story on the Arcade.
Next we headed to Graceland and were amazed at the number of people we saw on a Wednesday afternoon. There was a steady flow of tour buses driving through the Graceland gates.
Nothing says 4th of July better than fireworks. Spending the 4th of July weekend in Tunica this year will get you in the patriotic spirit, but it’s not the 4th of July without seeing the beauty of red, white, and blue in the sky.
