Growing up in the region, I’ve always been familiar with Tunica and the array of entertainment options the city offers. It wasn’t until recently, however, that I recognized Tunica’s position as one of the area’s premier golf destinations.
Most fans of Tunica enjoy playing games of leisure at our nine casinos, but our Travel Tunica group decided to step off of the casino floor this month for a different kind of game of leisure—learning how to play golf. While this can be overwhelming topeople of different skill levels, Tunica National General Manager Bob Wolcott, a former PGA Tour player, got us swinging in the right direction for a day that everyone who comes to Tunica should experience.

Tunica National Golf & Tennis has had a long list of distinguished tournaments since opening in 2004. None however will draw more top ranked professional players to the Tunica area than the USGA Sectional Qualifier to be held on Monday, June 6, 2011.

I am sure you all have seen the news of the rising Mississippi River and it’s affect on Tunica and the Casino Industry. While these have been a difficult couple of weeks, there are a lot of things still happening in the area.
Considering that I have been heavily involved in sports for years, it probably is no surprise that I try to find something sport-related almost everywhere I go. Even though I am a fan of all sports, my favorite to play is golf. Anytime that I can get away to get in a good game of golf, I do. Sometimes I want to get out of Memphis, but don’t have time to travel a long distance to other courses. Luckily for me, Tunica is just down the road.
Travel Tunica has taken you to the golf greens this year, but this week we wanted to explore “golf with a shotgun” at the Willows Sporting Clays & Hunting Center at Harrah’s Casino.
Tennis doesn’t require a great amount of coordination. After all, I learned to play a few years ago, and I’d had coaches my whole life talking me out of playing sports. Since I work in Tunica, and since Tunica National is one of the best places to get a drink after a long day, I started watching people play tennis and realizing Tunica is one of the best public tennis in the country to play this great sport.
