This year is quickly coming to an end, and I don’t know about you, but I am ready to celebrate. Tunica is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. Something exciting took place last weekend in Tunica and I’m not just talking about Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Last week Hollywood Casino, Resorts Casino, and Sam’s Town Tunica Casino hosted the first ever Casino Strip Presents $100,000 slot tournament. This tournament was the first of it’s kind here in Tunica and let me tell you, it was a lot of fun.
On October 26, 2013 history was made at Bally’s Casino Tunica. That was the day that competitive eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut at 121 Twinkies at the 1st Ever World Twinkie Eating Championship.
Looking for a family friendly activity? Head on down to Sam’s Town Tunica for the 14th Annual Delta River Cruisin’ Car Show hosted by the Memphis Street Rods. This annual show is one of the largest gatherings in the Mid-South of classically restored vehicles, hot rods and street rods.
The countdown is on for the biggest Country music festival this year, the Delta Country Jam on Oct. 4th and 5th and we have your tickets. The new Americana Buffet opened last week at Gold Strike Casino to rave reviews. The newly renovated $8 million dollar buffet design is inspired by the area with a large skylight, southern pine and even Levi’s 501 jeans. Yep, you read that right. This month, let’s explore what’s going on at Gold Strike. The Tunica Arena is hosting the Cowboy Mounted Shooting National Championships this week. This marks the 10th year that this event has been held in Tunica. I’m pleased to report that the Tunica destination is alive, well and OPEN for business! Everyone is aware that we lived through a very difficult month of May due to the rising floodwaters of the Mighty Mississippi. Due to the great exposure of this event by both local and national news sources, we thought we would update you on the true story of the great flood of 2011.
Did you hear?! The Roaming Gnome broke into our Comp Closet and stole our Summer Stay & Stuff packages to experience Tunica for himself. We’re glad that he decided to visit, but if he had asked we would have been more than happy to show the little rascal around town! We have been hot on his trail to get your comps back, but we need your help finding him.

Today Vision Airlines launched low-fare, nonstop air service between Tunica Airport (UTM) and the Northwest Florida International Airport in Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, FL (VPS). The airline will operate five flights a week to Destin, using a 30 passenger Dornier 328 turbo-prop aircraft. Parking will be free for passengers flying to and from the Tunica Airport.

Summer is here! It gets hot in Tunica, but when Harrah’s throws a Heatwave Pool Party things get even hotter!
Chrissy, Claire, and I headed to cool off at the pool party recently. We decided if we were going, we were going big, which included renting a cabana for the day. The cabanas have a personal refrigerator, towels, chairs and even a misting system for cooling down. Someone was always stopping by to ask if we needed anything. We did have a few cabana boys, but unfortunately none were shirtless!
