Seeing the River Up Close with Travel Tunica!

You may have come to Tunica a dozen times to our nine casinos, but if you’re looking for a way to experience the culture of the area and Mississippi River while you’re here, we have the answer.  Travel Tunica’s Chrissy, Lisa, and I boarded the Tunica Queen for a Tom Sawyer adventure.

Feeling the cool breeze in our hair and warm sun on our faces while listening to the sounds of the Mississippi River is how we started our day walking out of the Tunica RiverPark museum toward the Tunica Queen.

After taking our picture, we were off to board the Tunica Queen.  The Queen was hopping when we boarded.  We took the 2:30 sightseeing cruise.  There were 145 people on the boat ready to cruise, dance, and see the Mighty Mississippi with us.  Our first stop was upstairs at the bar to try a virgin Georgia Peach daiquiri.  It was great and really cooled us down.

We then went to the third floor observation deck to see the views and to visit Captain Don.  We listened to music being played on the Tunica Queen and “drove the boat” for a while.  He told us history about the area (some true, some just funny).  From there, we went down to the dance floor and watched everyone ages five to 95 cut a rug on the dance floor. We didn’t give it a shot this time, but maybe we’ll have to go back for a dinner cruise to give it a try.

We then talked to a few people who were still dancing when getting off the boat and recommended they visit the Tunica RiverPark museum that was voted the Southeast Travel Attraction of the Year in 2005.  We let them know it’s only $5 admission for adults, $4 for children, seniors, and groups and worth every penny.

Overall, it was a GREAT day for Travel Tunica!  Click on the links for more information and pricing for the Tunica RiverPark and Tunica Queen.  Click HERE for pictures from our Travel Tunica day.  We hope to see you Down the Road in Tunica very soon.
