In more than two decades of staying at casino resorts, one of my favorite methods for getting all I can out of available comps has been to charge meals to my room, and then see if I can get them comped at the end of my stay. The RV park at Sam’s Town has reopened with upgrades and new landscaping. The park closed due to the flooding in Tunica in May 2011, but accepted its first RV in 18 months in October. Sam’s Town used the damage as an opportunity to restructure the RV property and supply more spacious parking spots to its guests.

I’m pleased to report that the Tunica destination is alive, well and OPEN for business! Everyone is aware that we lived through a very difficult month of May due to the rising floodwaters of the Mighty Mississippi. Due to the great exposure of this event by both local and national news sources, we thought we would update you on the true story of the great flood of 2011.
Tunica is open! We may not be at 100% yet, but then again who is after Ol’ Man River punches you in the gut! The Mighty Mississippi tried it’s best to keep us down, but didn’t bet on the resilience of a great state like Mississippi.

Although I have been living here in the Mississippi Delta for several years now, I am still amazed with how much there is to see and experience here. I recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend in Greenwood, MS and let me tell you, if you want a romantic weekend or a girls getaway, this is the place (besides Tunica, or course).
