With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season over and the indecisive weather driving me nuts, a little earlier this month I decided to take a mini vacation away from it all for the night. I couldn’t decide where I wanted to go, but I knew I needed a little rest and relaxation, a little fun and maybe a little special treatment would also be nice. I decided I would venture over to Hollywood Casino. It’s a short drive from Memphis, so I figured, why not?
I vaguely remembered where the hotel was, but with a name like Hollywood, I knew that a little star treatment was in store. Hollywood Casino is a little off the beaten path as far as casinos go in Tunica. It’s not part of a huge cluster but is still close enough that the drive was reasonable. It felt like it was its own little Oasis. I always am hearing stories about all of the movie props that are in the hotel lobby and casino, so I knew I wanted to capture a few shots while I was there. Cars, helicopters and sinking ships! Once setting foot inside the hotel, I knew I was in for a good time.
My check-in was super easy and after dropping my bags in my room, I knew I had made the right choice. My room honestly felt like a 5-star suite right down to the golden Emmy award-like golden lamps and the amazingly comfortable bed. To say that I slept like a baby is an understatement. The hotel features a 5-story tower overlooking the casino floor and an 8-story tower next to the pool with free wireless internet. I personally enjoyed the indoor pool and the gift shop. When it warms up they also have an outdoor sundeck and offer priority tee times at the River Bend Links Golf Course.
Sometimes it’s just great to get away for the night even if you aren’t a gambler, and the rooms and awesome service at Hollywood certainly make the trip worth while!
