Mardi Gras Meals and Celebrations in Tunica

Mardi Gras Meals and Celebrations in Tunica

Fat Tuesday is tomorrow, and one of the best ways to celebrate is by paying homage to the food and culture that New Orleans and the Gulf Coast has made popular across the U.S. In Tunica, Gulf Coast seafood like shrimp, oysters and crab can be found all around, and we all know Tunica is the perfect place for an extended celebration.

Café Marie (6195 Fox Island Rd.), a casual restaurant with upscale selections, is located in downtown Tunica and will have blackened catfish with Cajun rice and jambalaya pasta on Fat Tuesday. The restaurant is also one of the best places in Tunica for specialty cocktails and drinks. Throughout the year, Café Marie serves Cajun meals like seafood gumbo, oysters and Cajun seafood pasta. Call ahead at (662) 357-0988 for reservations and to double check on the menu, as the selections are always changing. Restaurant hours are 5-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tunica National Golf and Tennis will have a Fat Tuesday dinner in its clubhouse Tuesday, February 12 at 6 p.m. The Cajun-style dinner will include steak with red beans and rice, fried okra, jalapeno cornbread, Cajun potatoes and New Orleans-style bread pudding. Make your reservation now by calling (662) 357-0777, ext. 2709. Following the dinner, you can participate in Tunica National’s first trivia night of 2013!

In gaming, Gold Stike is celebrating Mardi Gras with the Big Easy Winnings $25,000 Slot Tournament. The top prize is $10,000 in Freeplay, and 100 players will win. The tournament, which will take place on February 16 and 23 (register the day of the tournament from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.), begins at 3 p.m. in front of the Atrium Cafe. If you earn 300 slot base points the day of the tournament, you’ll get free entry to the tournament.

Not like I need to remind you, but if you’re gambling, drinks are free on casino floors in Tunica. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
