Casino Spotlight: Steak, Eggs and Live Music Come Together at Gold Strike

If you’re like me when it comes to food, then you wonder about where and what you are going to eat before your trip even starts. But you can put your worries to rest if you’re spending the day at Gold Strike. The resort has everything covered: drinks with live music, over-the-top buffet, ribs in a casual setting, plus an award-winning steak house that calls Gold Strike home.

Chicago Steak House is Gold Strike’s contemporary, fine dining restaurant. A few items you’ll find on the menu are prime steaks, seafood, duck and a unique selection of grits that let you know that the steak house could only be in Mississippi. Its wide wine selection made it a no-brainer as a recipient of a Wine Spectator Award. Down the Road blog’s Lisa Konupka and Chrissy Garner documented their experience trying flambé, a unique banana dessert, at Chicago Steak House on Tunica TV. Check out the video at the TunicaTravel.tv. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (662) 357-1225.

At the Buffet, there’s always a selection of home-style meals, omelets and salads. But specials occur throughout the week. For example, Friday and Saturday nights (3 p.m. – 1 a.m.) are all about the seafood buffet. For brunch on Saturday and Sunday (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.), meals include a complimentary glass of champagne, bloody mary, beer or wine.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed meal, Atrium Café serves breakfast, ribs, soups, sandwiches and desserts. Gold Strike also has a few “quick bite” locations throughout the casino. Pizzeria Fresh serves pizza and sandwiches, Gold’s Deli is perfect for a coffee pick-me-up and a donut, and Burger City is the place to find, you guessed it, burgers and fries.

But if you’re more thirsty than hungry, Gold Strike won’t leave you high and dry. A low key experience is provided at Liquid Assets. The lounge is near the casino floor and has comfy sofas and flat-screen TVs. Stage 2 is a good choice for live music to go along with the drink in your hand. It’s open Wednesday through Saturday, with performances each night. Click here for a calendar of upcoming performances.

For more live music, keep checking the performance calendar for the Millennium Theater. The Charlie Daniels Band will be in Tunica September 22, Creedence Clearwater Revisited on October 20 and Rita Rudner and Brad Garrett on November 17.
