Every time I visit Tunica, I try to slip in something new to my schedule. Sometimes it’s a new game, a new night spot or a unique event. The variety of recreation options available at Harrah’s Tunica makes it easy to try something new. Harrah’s has has casino resort staples, but there is always something new to experience, which keeps things fresh and interesting.
Whenever I’m on vacation, I use the break as an excuse to treat myself to things I wouldn’t do in day-to-day life. What’s makes my chance to unwind even more relaxing is when I don’t have to travel far to do it. Harrah’s Bellissimo Spa and Salon couldn’t be more convenient, and believe me, it isn’t just for the ladies. Try a massage to get you into the vacation mindset or get a haircut before you hit the casino floor. Down the Road Blog’s Lisa and Chrissy took one for the team recently and visited the spa to get a sample of Bellissimo’s services. Looks rough, doesn’t it?
Here’s something you won’t find at your average casino resort: a sporting clays and hunting center. At Willows, 14 shooting stations located in a realistic hunting environment are available for small and large groups to enjoy the outdoors and test their marksmanship. The hunting center is open Wednesday to Sunday, and Harrah’s also hosts upland quail hunts November 1 through March 31. If you forget some of your gear, hunting licenses and attire are sold at the Willows clubhouse. For all events, reservations are recommended and can be obtained by calling 1 (800) WIN-4-WIN. Pricing information is available at the Harrah’s website.
If you want to keep up with your golf game, book a tee time at the Links at Cottonwoods. The impressive 7,000-yard course was designed by three time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin. Irwin must really have a knack for winning, because Cottonwoods was voted “Best Golf” by the Casino Player Awards and one of the top 40 casino golf courses by Golf Digest. The course is a par 72 and also has a clubhouse restaurant and pro shop. Rates vary throughout the year and range from $39-$69, which includes green fee, cart fee, range balls and sales tax.
But let’s not forget about the kids: At Kids Quest, children 6 weeks to 12 can take their own vacation at a supervised, interactive play area while you’re golfing or enjoying the spa. Kids Quest is great recreational option if you’re taking a short trip and want your kids to also have something fun and new to do. It has an arcade, basketball courts, a café, iPad and Wii stations and a special area for younger children. This place would have seemed like a paradise to me when I was a kid. Operating hours are as late as 1 a.m. during summer weekends.
Make your next visit to Tunica your chance to try something new by taking advantage of a recreational opportunity at Harrah’s. Next week, I’ll give you a rundown of Harrah’s gaming and rewards.
