Tunica RiverPark Family Fun Day Reopening Celebration

After months of cleanup and repairs following the 2011 Mississippi River floods, the Tunica RiverPark & Museum is back!!! And it’s time to shout it from the rooftops.

The RiverPark is a one-of-a-kind interactive, interpretive museum that showcases the life of the river and its history, featuring aquariums, ecotrails and riverboat cruises. During the hiatus the facility’s event space was reconfigured, pavilions with grills are being added to the grounds that can be rented for parties and family reunions and brand-new museum exhibits are in the works. Come see all the changes for yourself.

You’re invited to celebrate the reopening with us at the Tunica RiverPark Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 10 am – 5 pm. The day’s festivities will include live blues music, children’s activities, FREE admission to the RiverPark Museum, special Tunica Queen cruise schedule at a discounted rate, gift shop specials and more!

Fitz Casino & Hotel Tunica has a motto: “Luck lives here.” And while I personally subscribe to Grizzlies player Rudy Gay’s philosophy that you make your own luck (unless you are playing the Clippers), I have to admit that there is something about Fitz that makes Lady Luck right feel at home.

The “Fire Bet” at Craps

A craps player emailed to ask about a bet he hadn’t seen before. “Some of the others were playing something called the ‘Fire Bet,’”  he wrote. “When the shooter made a point, they’d put a fire disk on that point. Once the shooter made a couple of points, the guys started to get excited, but I think I only saw it pay off once. I didn’t know anything about it, so I stayed away, figured I’d learn something about it before I got involved. Is this a good bet, or something to ignore?”

Doubling Down for Less at Blackjack

Doubling down is one of the players’ most important advantages in blackjack. After seeing your first two cards, you can make a bet equal to your first in exchange for taking just one more card.

Does Playing Two Slot Machines At Once Help?

I once watched in semi-amazement as a woman played a whole row of eight three-reel slot machines by herself. She’d push the “max bet” button, and while the reels were still spinning, step to push the button on the next machine, and the next. When the reels started spinning on machine No. 8, she’d stride back to the beginning and start again.
