Spring has sprung and my pink clipboard has been resurrected from last year. It’s said when the clipboards come out around the Tunica Chamber of Commerce office that it’s planning time for the Rivergate Festival. Can you believe 20 years have passed since the best little party in downtown Tunica started? We’ve got tons of fun and great entertainment coming. OK I’ll tell you what’s on the clipboard so far…
Friday Night, when you hear the sirens and horns hopefully it’s not the cops after the Blues Brothers and band – that look like they just broke out of jail to be performing. Then at 8:30 – it’s the all too familiar sound that a fresh batch of Crawfish is ready in the ever popular Crawfish Alley!!!!!
Saturday, we will start the day with Antique Cars rolling in, Harley’s will come rumbling thru, Arts/Crafts booths will be lined up for some unique shopping for you and that smell, well that’s BBQ. When you smell that it means the competition has begun. Again don’t be alarmed when you hear the sirens and horns but remember the crawfish is ready. Then to start the day of entertainment the “Tunica Riverbank Kids” will be performing (Sponsored by Tunica Arts Council) at 11am that’s if we can pry them off the rock climbing wall or giant slide and other fun stuff that maybe even the kid in you will try a mechanical bull??? By then the Harley’s won’t be the only thing rumbling but your stomach will be and you can stroll around the various food vendors and grab some lunch then come back and listen to the Memphis All Stars at 12, we’ll switch gears a bit and go country no not with Alan Jackson but The Springs at 2:30 and then you will be dying to know who won the BBQ contest along with other competitions so we’ll tell you that around 4pm. Now wait just a “Mississippi Minute” it’s not over yet, get ready for Steve Azar to take us home down “Highway 61” at 4:30
All of this you can experience just down the road in the quaint little downtown Tunica in the Rivergate Park April 20th & 21st. Of course you are invited!
About Our Guest Blogger:
Thank you to our guest blogger, Kay Walker. Kay has been in Tunica 11 years now and says that when she refers to home, she’s talking about Tunica. She has worked for the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce since her arrival, and says that planning parties and events is more fun than work for her. Kay has had the privilege to be a part of some exciting growth both on the industrial/business side, as well as tourism, and even though you may not see her, if it’s a Chamber event, Kay has had a hand in it.
