Tis’ the Season for Giftgiving: Holiday Shopping on Tunica’s Main Street

While several of you are downloading store maps and planning out your routes through crowds of anxious Black Friday holiday shoppers, it’s great to keep in mind that Downtown Tunica offers a variety of specialty shops and one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone including the hottest fashions of the season – no escape route needed! Forget the lines and holiday chaos. Shopping in Downtown Tunica is about as peaceful as it gets.

This season, shoppers even stand to gain a little extra reward for all their efforts. (After all, shopping is hard work!) From now until December 15, shoppers can register for the $1,000 Shopping Spree sponsored by Tunica Main Street and local merchants. The contest, which officially began with the Holiday Open House Preview Party on November 12, enters shoppers in the drawing for every $25 he/she spends with any of the participating Downtown Tunica merchants. The merchants include:

  • 1251 Place –  This colorful, quirky shop showcases linens, dishes, china and baby products. Whether you’re looking for crystal gifts or old-fashioned bridge cards, a wander through the aisles is sure to yield a treasure.
  • Alpha Commission – This Christian Bookstore is sure to have great gifts that reflect the true reason for the season.
  • Cafe Marie – This charming little restaurant is located in downtown Tunica at the corner of Fox Island and Main on the ground floor of the Historic Hotel Marie. It is a casual dining restaurant, which features delicious choices for lunch and dinner for the current season.
  • The ColumnsThis cozy bed and breakfast was once known as the Colonial Revival home and was built in 1918 by Captain J.W. Henderson, who served as a Captain in the Spanish-American War. Give the gift of relaxation this holiday season.
  • The Levee Shack – The Levee Shack is located inside the Tunica Pharmacy. When you walk in, turn left to explore one of the most unique gift shops in the area. On the walls, you’ll see large hand-made crosses and oil paintings.  In the glass display cases, you’ll find children’s toys, kitchenware and jewelry. And don’t miss the most wonderfully scented candles!
  • Miss Tootie’s Diner – With its retro red-and-black interior, lunch counter, and dessert case filled with homemade wonders, this small piece of heaven on the corner of Main St. and Market is beloved by locals and visitors alike. It’s a great place to get yummy treats for holiday parties or to give to friends. Drop in at Miss Tootie’s and we promise something sweet is just around the corner!
