Last Chance Summer Trips

 Last Chance Summer Trips

We all remember the days when summer vacation always seemed to end too soon. Like most kids, we dreaded the return of school, teachers and homework. Nowadays, even some adults dread the end of summer. The end of summer means less sunshine, the looming inevitability of cold weather and the end of daylight savings time, ensuring that we leave work, essentially, in the dark..

Everyone deserves a last chance at some summer fun, and we all know that Tunica is the Mid-South’s capitol of FUN! With that in mind, I have devised a short list of my favorite last chance summer trips.

Things to Do Before Back to School:

  • Camp Out! Tunica is home to several outstanding RV parks. Load up the family RV and head on down to Tunica if you’re an RV enthusiast. You’ll love the state-of-the-art, full-service RV Parks at Harrah’s Casino Mid-South RV Park. Harrah’s RV Park is one of only 122 sites in the country with a double 5W rating from Woodall’s and it boasts of 200 RV spaces, cable TV, a lodge, lounge, convenience store, laundry facilities, and showers as well as a 2,000 square-foot heated pool, volleyball courts, a basketball court and more. With pull-through and back-in spaces that can accommodate any size RV, shuffleboard courts, pet areas, and available group rates, why not make this a family affair to remember?
  • Try a Road Trip! Hit the Trail! Begin your next road trip at the Tunica Visitors Center on Highway 61, the entrance of America’s Blues Highway. A great way to jumpstart your kids’ brains with a history lesson before school begins is to travel the Mississippi Blues Trail. Take a family trip and travel the Mississippi Blues Trail – a journey of over 120 historical markers scattered throughout the state that tell the remarkable story of how the blues were born in Mississippi. Five of the markers are located in Tunica! In addition to the America’s Blues Highway marker at the Visitors Center, Tunica’s Blues Markers feature Eddie James “Son” House, Abbay & Leatherman Plantation, James Cotton and Harold “Hardface” Clanton.
  • Back-to-School Shop! Haven’t done your back-to-school shopping yet? Or maybe you just want to let your kids pick out that special “First Day of School” outfit? Give Tunica’s Casino Factory Shoppes a try! Drive around town and you’ll come home with a trunk load of bargains! Found in the heart of the Tunica Resort area, the is a 30-store Tunica outlet mall and shopping center that offers top name women’s, men’s and kid’s brands. With Carter’s, The Children’s Place, The Gap, Old Navy, OshKosh B’Gosh, Rue21 and Rack Room Shoes, you are sure to find something that fits your kids’ styles without breaking your budget.

Regardless of how much time you and your family have before summer actually ends, you should all pile in the car and take a trip down to Tunica. In a place known for pure fun, there is no telling what adventures you will find yourself on!
