A friend of mine called last night to ask if I wanted to go to dinner. My first response was no, considering the impending weather. After a few minutes of convincing (her telling me she won a bunch of money at the casino and it was burning a hole in her pocket), I gave in and headed to Fitz Casino Tunica to eat at Don B’s steakhouse.
Don B’s is located on the second floor of the casino next to the buffet. When you walk through the doors to the restaurant, you are transported from a noisy casino floor to a dimly lit dining area perfect for a romantic evening for two or a quiet dinner with friends.
After being seated, we were greeted by Markus, our waiter for the evening. He was fantastic! Definitely ask for him when you go. We were brought a basket of bread. Not just any old bread, it had sticks of pretzel bread. If you have never had this, you are missing out. Pretzel bread is chewy on the outside with big flakes of salt and soft on the inside. Perfect way to begin what was about to be a feast.
My friends ordered the Surf and Turf and Crab legs, while I tried the Fitz Tournedos, which are two 3 oz tenderloins with melted bleu cheese sauce, two BBQ shrimp & a balsamic reduction. I am not a fan of bleu cheese, but this was delicious. It had a creamy texture and was just the right amount to accent my steak. The crab legs were enormous! If you’re a seafood lover, this is the place to be.
After eating until we were about to burst, we figured we couldn’t leave with out trying dessert. We shared a slice of carrot cake and a chocolate eruption. Both were a sweet treat to end a fabulous meal.
Fitz Casino is located adjacent to the Tunica RiverPark and offers a magnificent view of the Mississippi River. Next time you’re in Tunica and want a quiet place to eat after touring the RiverPark or winning big at the casino, visit Don B’s Steakhouse. For reservations, call (800) 766-5825. The Steakhouse is open Wednesday – Sunday starting at 6 pm.
