You normally see him on the tennis courts in Tunica, but last week Donny Flowers, Director of Tennis at Tunica National, competed in the 2010 Table Tennis US Open in Michigan.

“It was an awesome experience,” Flowers said.  “Just to qualify to be able to compete with people from around the world was an honor and to have the opportunity to play a game I love makes it even more enjoyable.”

Flowers competed in six divisions of the US Open playing against people from all over the world.  He won 11 rounds and lost four.  In table tennis, a player has to win two out of three games to advance to the next round.

“One of my best matches was against a player named Barry Dattel in the third round,” Flowers said.  “He was more than 300 points ahead of me in ranking, and I beat him 3-1, 2-0, causing a big upset.”

Flowers is the Head Tennis Professional at Tunica National Golf & Tennis.  He has held this position since 2003 when the property opened its doors.  Tunica National has indoor clay tennis courts open year-round.  For more information on Tunica National and Donny Flowers, go to www.TunicaNational.com.  To book a vacation in Tunica, visit www.TunicaTravel.com.
