Unwind at the Tunica RiverPark!

 Unwind at the Tunica RiverPark!

Do you come to Tunica to relax and get away because you are wound up from your daily life? Since most of Tunica’s entertainment can be enjoyed at night, a perfect daytime activity is tucked away just a few minutes from your favorite casino.

The Tunica RiverPark, located on the Mississippi River, has an award-winning interactive museum with aquariums and eco-trial as well the Tunica Queen, a 300 passenger riverboat that cruises Tuesday-Sunday with sightseeing and dinner cruises.

Your first stop to unwind should be the ecotrail.  Stroll through two miles of paved walkways and bridges through wetlands with a view of the Mississippi River.  The walkways allow visitors to comfortably access otherwise difficult to reach areas. Along the way, stop to read the exhibit signs that tell facts and stories about the Mississippi River.  If you walk quietly, you may see deer, fox squirrels, beaver, turtles, and birds galore as well as a variety of plant life.

Next, step into the museum, voted the Southeast Travel Attraction of the Year in 2005.  This 24,000 square foot museum is centered on the life of the Mississippi River and its history. The artifacts and interpretative exhibits date back to the days of early Indian civilization, highlighting life on the river and historical events, such as the flood of 1927, giving visitors a true understanding of how the Delta and its residents adapted to the power of the river. Museum visitors can learn about Hernando DeSoto, view live turtles and fish in one of the four aquariums, and experience life below the water’s surface inside the simulated diving bell.  After looking at all of the museum exhibits, take the elevator to the third floor for the best view of the Mississippi River anywhere on the observation deck.  Adults and children will be fascinated with this state-of-the-art facility and its location overlooking the river that shaped America.

Finally, take a sightseeing or dinner cruise on the Mighty Mississippi.  Wind down with a signature drink and fine dining on the Tunica Queen, voted the best non-gaming attraction in Tunica.  Hear the boat captain tell stories of legends on the Mississippi River.  Sit on the third floor observation deck, and see the River up close.  Enjoy a three course meal at night while being entertained by local musicians.  Click HERE for the cruise schedule on the Tunica Queen.

The Tunica RiverPark is the perfect place to let down your hair, learn a little, and let life roll by as slowly and beautifully as the Mississippi River.  For more information on the Tunica RiverPark, check back on the blog soon as Travel Tunica will be visiting the RiverPark!
