factory-outlet-shoppes, gift-shops, mothers-day, shopping
Flowers again? Another generic gift card? Or should I just take her to brunch with a nice card? Each year I stress about what I am going to buy my mother for Mother’s Day. Not only does she seem to have everything, but she is also extremely picky, and I hate to say, somewhat hard to please. While leaving the casinos last weekend, it hit me — why not shop in Tunica for that special gift?
The town has a million options! One large and obvious choice is the Casino Factory Shoppes located right on Highway 61. The shopping center is huge and has several stores any mom would like, such as Kitchen Collection, Lane Bryant and Dress Barn, and the ever-popular Zales the Diamond Store Outlet. If you go to the Factory Shoppes website, you can even find gift ideas with a click of the mouse to stores like Old Navy. Come to think of it, she would be delighted with anything from Zales — and just about everything is at outlet-low prices.
However, if the 40 large stores at the factory mall do not give you what you are looking for, why not add a shopping side trip in your already-planned casino visit. Let’s say next weekend you plan on enjoying the buffet and the black jack tables at several Tunica casinos. While you are there, stop in to some of the casino gift shops, which are often located on the casino floor. Even if your mom is not a regular casino player or aficionado, she will still appreciate some of the gorgeous souvenirs these stores have to offer, such as clothing, fine crystal, collectibles and so much more.
If you are still stuck on what to buy mom after visiting the outlet and casino gift shops, think even further outside the box (and casino, for that matter). For unique items including Mississippi River and museum collectibles (for that mom with Southern heritage and/or appreciation), visit the gift shop located inside the Tunica RiverPark Museum. Or if your mom enjoys golf and needs some more golf apparel to get her through this season, all three north Mississippi golf courses and Pro shops located in the Tunica area (Cottonwoods, River Bend Links, and Tunica National Golf & Tennis) can fill all your needs. Pros are on hand to help make recommendations and get your mother’s right size and fit.
Stay tuned later this week for the Travel Tunica girls post about shopping in the heart of Tunica Town and the area’s great antique stores, clothing and gift boutiques and local restaurants. It will be another great chance to get some ideas for your Mother and learn more about the great shopping opportunities just south of Memphis.
Happy Mother’s Day!
